Draeger’s Viognier Restaurant, San Mateo, Executive Chef

RJ Subaba is a Bay Area native who grew up with the culinary traditions of Korea and the Philippines. From a very young age, he formed a love of cooking by following his grandparents around the kitchen and gardens of their home. He started his formal education at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. Soon after, he joined the team at the Restaurant at Meadowood in St. Helena, under acclaimed chef Joseph Humphrey. He then followed Humphrey to open Murray Circle at Cavallo Point. After relocating to Silicon Valley, Subaba worked as sous chef for Madera at Rosewood Resort and The Village Pub in Woodside. Chef RJ Subaba is excited to lead the Viognier team and incorporate his style of cooking into the rich tradition of cuisine that Viognier offers.
